Sea Pearl

We bought Sea Pearl in order to sail around the world. We wanted a boat that would carry us safely and independently to the most distant corners and exotic locations that were best seen by boat, as we are both sea creatures at heart.

We also wanted the most comfortable long term, full-time home that we could easily sail with just the two of us, but which would also comfortably accommodate friends, family and guests when we wanted extra company to share this wonderful liveaboard lifestyle with.

  • The guest accommodation is all forward of the saloon.

  • Large double bed cabin in the forepeak and a two single bunk cabin next door.

  • Both cabins are served by the forward heads.

  • Host cabin and heads are aft of the saloon, so plenty of privacy for all of us.

Sea Pearl is as 56 foot/17metre luxury blue water cruiser made from fibreglass, with a fully protected skeg-hung rudder and high-performance bulb keel. She is a centre-cockpit saloon-deck monohull with a cutter rig, meaning that she has a staysail inboard of the hydraulic furling genoa, and a hydraulic in-mast furling mainsail.

All of her sails can be controlled from the safety of the centre cockpit, right next to the helm, with a maximum cruising speed of around 10 knots. When you come sailing with us, you can get involved with helping us sail her as little or as much as you like. We have all the knowledge and experience necessary to allow you to either watch, learn, or crew Sea Pearl – it’s up to you.

Considering Your Own Boat?

Sea Pearl is the third boat we have owned together, and it may not be the last. We may even downsize after circumnavigating the world. If you’re thinking about buying your first boat, transitioning from day/weekend sailing to liveaboard, or just want to gain more confidence to bareboat charter a boat, Sea Pearl is probably further up the food chain than what you are considering. But the same basic principles apply. You gain valuable first-hand experience with our guidance, working out what it is you want from your boat, while having a luxury sailing holiday at the same time

You may be thinking that a catamaran is more suited to your plans than a monohull, so Sea Pearl isn’t right for you. But we are offering a liveaboard lifestyle experience that is relevant to all sailors. The principles are the same for a monohull or multi-hull sailing boat, and we can help you decide which is right for you and your family. To try before you buy is far preferable than investing a great deal of time and money into a lifestyle that might not be right for you on a more full-time basis.
