The Islands of the Caribbean have a tropical weather system all of their own. This really affects the sailing season and subsequently when our guests can get the most enjoyment out of their stay on Sea Pearl.
High Season, Dry Season / Winter
(as it’s in the Northern Hemisphere)
December to May is the Caribbean’s Sailing Season
The winds are fairly consistent and therefore great for sailing.
The rain comes in short bursts occasionally, cooling things off, and temperatures are hot enough for swimming in the refreshing sea by day, with a delicious warmth in the evenings that makes you want to be outside stargazing all night.
Average temperatures range from 24 – 32C / 75 – 90F.
This is the time of year you want to come sailing with us on Sea Pearl.
Low Season, Wet/Hurricane Season or Summer
June to November is the Caribbean Hurricane Season
Now our insurance tells us that we need to be out of the Hurricane Belt (which is most of the Central Caribbean) at this time of year because Tropical Storms will punctuate the very hot, humid weather. Wind is inconsistent, rain is heavy and frequent, and the temperatures can be unpleasant and extremely muggy.
This is the season when we carry out larger repair and maintenance jobs that may be needed. We haul Sea Pearl out of the water, put her on the hard standing, and re-apply the anti-foul paint that prevents barnacles and growth from forming a green carpet on her hull to slow us down in the high season.
During this Low Season, a lot of the bars & restaurants on the Islands are closed. Some of the facilities and usual attractions are not available, and the Caribbean tends to wind down in general. This is the time to spend planning your trip with us on Sea Pearl, so you can take full advantage of the sailing season from the moment you arrive.
