Jenny) Paolo started sailing with a significant amount of constancy from a young age, and his son even earlier, having been born into a sailing family. I have always been envious of this common denominator amongst natural sailors.
I believe that nurturing your children’s interest and enthusiasm for sailing at any age will reward them with a lifetime of sailing pleasure and an appreciation of the ocean. So, we would encourage parents to “teach them young”. Having said that, my childhood dabbling with sailing was not followed through; only in my dreams.
So regrettably, I didn’t find the consistency you need to remember what you’re doing until I was much older. Thankfully I was able to take my late start to sailing and grow it into a lifestyle with the help of Paolo.
So you may think you have missed the boat on sailing, if you didn’t win your first regatta at 15, but I am living proof that “it’s never too late to start”.
